Solution:
When ArcCatalog does not immediately show
changes to files or folders (it rarely does for me),
the nominal solution is to Refresh the view (using View>Refresh,
or the F5 key). This often has no perceptible effect; you still
cannot see your new file or the changes you've made! It will
usually work, however, if you will collapse the catalog tree and/or
collapse the folder that contains the changes before Refreshing. When ArcMap cannot find a file or detect changes to a file's
properties that you recently added or modified in ArcCatalog, do
the following:
- Remove the file from ArcMap
- Go back to ArcCatalog and follow the procedure above until
you can see the file or changes in ArcCatalog.
- Add the file again to ArcMap. It should now show the
changes.
- If the problem persists, save your work, exit
both programs and try again. This will always solve the
problem, but it's time consuming and rarely necessary if you
use the procedures above.
